Sugar Skull and Butterflies... The Mexican festival of the Day of the Dead fascinates me. I love that they chose to celebrate rather than grieve. I think we should all be glad for the time we were blessed with our loved ones rather than dwell on the lose, but I also understand that this can be hard at times, that's why I added just a couple of tears slipping out of her eyes and slightly smearing her makeup. But her head is still held high.
This is actually a colored version of an Inktober piece I did in 2020, Every October, like many artists, I challenge myself to do a completed drawing everyday. I however auction them off on my website and we give all the proceeds to a charity at the end of the month. We have given to the Humane Society in 2019 and Save a Fox Corporation in 2020 so far.
